We are most proud of our commitment to helping end hunger, with efforts all year and a laser focus throughout September.
Our Communities, Our Home
Our ShopRite stores are in the communities we call home, and these communities are important to us. We believe we have a social responsibility to the environment, our local communities, and to our customers.
We are proud to support non-profit organizations that make our communities better places to live and work, or that improve the lives of our customers, employees, and their families. For more information, and to download an application, please visit our Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen in Your Community website.
We also participate in ShopRite’s Partners In Caring initiative to fight hunger at the community level. Partners in Caring has raised more than $60 million since it started in 1999, in support of 1,700 charities in the Northeast region. Locally, we have raised thousands of dollars to support organizations such as the Food Bank of South Jersey, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and Christian Caring Center through in-store and community events such as our annual 5K Run/Walk held every Labor Day. In 2019, ShopRite of Medford was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as the store that raised the most money for Partners In Caring!
Always, our goal is to operate in an ethical, caring manner. We even have a set of core values we regard as the cornerstones of our business:
- Customer Service – The customer always is our priority. We strive to provide exceptional service, and continually look for ways to better serve you.
- Integrity – We appreciate and respect our customers as the integral focus of our company, and uphold our values with conviction.
- Quality – Our standard is superior quality products and services – and to provide them efficiently and effectively in order to exceed customer expectations.
These aren’t just words. These represent who we are – a family who has been in the food business for nearly 70 years and takes enormous pride in the quality of our products and relentless attention to customer service.
Ending hunger in our local communities is at the core of our community support. In addition to supporting organizations through ShopRite’s Partners In Caring program, we support other organizations that provide hunger relief to people and pets.
School and Community Organizations
Central to our community are the many local non-profit organizations. Events sponsored by the non-profit organizations in the communities that we serve are part of what makes a community thrive. We proudly support them.
Local organizations which provide nutrition education, health-related or healthy lifestyle programming are important to a thriving community. We are committed to help fund these initiatives.
About Donation Support
Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen in Your Community
Our ShopRite stores are in the communities we call home, and these communities are important to us. We are proud to support non-profit organizations that make our communities better places to live and work, or that improve the lives of our customers, employees, and their families.
Ways We Help Our Local Communities
Our stores offer financial support to public and private schools in our communities, including the PTAs and booster clubs that do so much to help students. Some donations enable important events to continue, and others are game-changers like our $25,000 boost to create a STEAM Lab at Neeta School in Medford Lakes, a $25,000 donation for technology for the Haddon Heights School district and our continuing financial support of the Lawnside Education Foundation. We also partner with schools to offer the Young Consumers Program that shows 4th grade students how to make good decisions while shopping.
Partners in Caring
We are a leading participant in ShopRite’s Partners In Caring initiative, which encourages nearly 300 individual stores to raise money to fight hunger. Locally, the Zallie-Somerset stores have raised over $175,000 in the last three years to support organizations such as the Food Bank of South Jersey, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and Christian Caring Center. Our efforts include asking customers to “round up” at the register, hosting in-store special events, ShopRite of Medford’s signature PIC event — a fund-raising 5K every Labor Day and ShopRite of Lawnside’s Drive Out Hunger Car Show.
Zallie-Somerset stores interact with their communities, in those communities. You’ll see us annually at the Medford & Lawnside Independence Day Celebrations, Medford Art, Wine & Music Festival, Medford Oktoberfest, Gibbstown Cops & Bobbers Tournament, Lawnside Heritage Day and many other local events that bring people together. Our Team Members also participate in smaller-scale gatherings, like children’s workshops at libraries and special visits to adult living centers.
