Our Commitment to Giving
We are most proud of our commitment to helping end hunger, with efforts all year and a laser focus throughout September.
Our Communities, Our Home
Zallie-Somerset stores are in the communities we call home, and these communities are important to us. We believe we have a social responsibility to the environment, our local communities, and our guests. We are most proud of our commitment to helping end hunger, including a month-long focus throughout September, Hunger Action Month.
Our philanthropy assists local initiatives, regional food banks, and nonprofit organizations with monetary donations in addition to goods and services. Youth groups, first responders, schools and other grassroots organizations look to us for a helping hand. From lunches to celebrate volunteers to gift baskets for fundraisers to event sponsorships, we happily evaluate which requests can most directly enhance our communities. For instance:
- ShopRite of Lawnside helps support the annual Heritage Day that celebrates the Black history of this historic borough.
- ShopRite of Medford is a proud sponsor of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Halloween Parade, and a regular participant in the Mount Holly Fire & Ice Festival.
- ShopRite of West Berlin is an active supporter of the Fourth of July parade organized by Berlin Township and Berlin Borough.
Zallie-Somerset Inc. is strongly engaged with the National Brain Tumor Society and the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. We proudly support the Food Bank of South Jersey, as well as smaller-scale operations that share the goal of food accessibility.
We also take a very active role in the community-based, hunger-fighting initiatives of ShopRite Partners In Caring . Year-round efforts ramp up in September for Hunger Action Month, and Zallie-Somerset stores score highly in the annual friendly competition of fundraising. To date, ShopRite team members have raised nearly $50 million for Partners In Caring – money that supports 2,200 charities working to fight hunger.
Hunger Relief
Ending hunger in our local communities is at the core of our community support. In addition to supporting organizations through ShopRite’s Partners In Caring program, we support other organizations that provide hunger relief to people and pets.
School and Community Organizations
Central to our community are the many local non-profit organizations. Events sponsored by the non-profit organizations in the communities that we serve are part of what makes a community thrive. We proudly support them.
Health Initiatives
Local organizations which provide nutrition education, health-related or healthy lifestyle programming are important to a thriving community. We are committed to help fund these initiatives.
Partner In Caring
All of Zallie-Somerset locations participate in the annual friendly competition that raises money for the Partners In Caring initiative. That has put many of our team members on special edition Cheerios boxes, and helped support local charities working to fight hunger.

Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen in Your Community
Our ShopRite stores are in the communities we call home, and these communities are important to us. We are proud to support non-profit organizations that make our communities better places to live and work, or that improve the lives of our guests, employees, and their families.
Ways We Help Our Local Communities

Schools
Our stores offer financial support to public and private schools in our communities throughout South Jersey, including the PTAs and booster clubs that do so much to help students. Some donations enable important events to continue, and others are game-changers like ShopRite of Medford’s $25,000 boost to create a STEAM Lab at Neeta School in Medford Lakes. We also partner with schools to offer the Young Consumers Program that shows 6th-grade students how to make good decisions while shopping.

Partners in Caring

Community
Zallie-Somerset interacts with our communities, in those communities. You’ll see us annually at the Berlin Fourth of July parade, Medford Township Independence Day Celebration, the Lawnside Custom & Classic Car Show, and many other local events that bring people together. Our Team Members also participate in smaller-scale gatherings, like children’s workshops at libraries and special visits to adult living centers. Each week, every one of our stores welcomes pickups from local food pantries. Zallie-Somerset has supported Bianca’s Kids, a Williamstown-based non-profit that grants wishes to foster, sick and needy children. Every week we salute current and former members of the Armed Forces with grocery discounts on Military Monday, and we appreciate seniors with discounts on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month.
